Blue Bridesmaid Dresses For 2010 Weddings
Blue is a perennial favorite color for bridesmaid dresses. Every season, different shades of blue and different silhouettes come into style for attendants. See which blue bridesmaid dresses are especially hot for 2010 weddings.
The most popular shades of blue this year are ones with green undertones. Forget about pastels like baby blue or colors like sky blue or periwinkle. The trendiest blues for 2010 bridesmaid dresses are aqua, turquoise, and teal. The aqua blue color looks especially gorgeous when combined with pale seafoam accents.
Chiffon is one of the most popular fabrics for bridesmaid dresses this summer, and it is a wonderful choice for any of the aqua and turquoise colors. The soft filmy fabric helps to keep the vivid colors under control. A bright turquoise bridesmaid dress in a shiny poly satin could easily become the stuff of bridesmaid nightmares, but the same hue in a sheer chiffon looks very chic. The lightweight fabric is also ideal for warm weather, and is lovely by the water.
Strapless necklines are always favorites for bridesmaid dresses, but there are many other interesting necklines to be considered. The one shoulder neckline is very much in style right now, and would be quite elegant in a floor length teal bridesmaid gown for a more formal summer wedding. High necked halters are also quite flattering for attendants' attire. If you decide to go with a blue strapless bridesmaid dress, opt for one with some unique styling, such as a draped chiffon gown with a ruffle down the front. This will set it apart from all of the other strapless bridesmaid dresses out there.
For a summer evening wedding, a rich royal blue color will be the height of fashion in 2010. The rich saturated blue will show up better in wedding photos than navy, which tends to look black in pictures. Keeping the warm weather in mind, chiffon or organza would be lovely. A floaty and feminine style with a Grecian goddess flair would be stunning. Keep the Academy Awards as your style inspiration, rather than traditional bridesmaid dresses, and you will be sure to find a real showstopper of a royal blue gown for your attendants.
All these beautiful shades of blue dresses call for very special accessories. The days of dyed-to-match have gone by the wayside. A much more modern approach to bridesmaid accessories is to select accent pieces in a complementary hue, a metallic used as a neutral, or even a contrasting pop of bright color. Silver strappy sandals would be wonderful shoes to wear with any of the greenish-blues such as aqua or teal. Crystal bridesmaid jewelry in a deeper version of the dress color would be a fabulous way to create a layered color effect. Or opt for the simple elegance of bridesmaid jewelry made with clear crystals for a very modern look. With so many great ways to wear it, it is no wonder that blue is one of the all-time favorite colors for bridesmaid dresses.
