Found a 505 infantry, h-minus coin?
I found this coin outside of my apartment complex, and am puzzled. Firstly, because i've lived here for four years, and couldnt imagine anyone living here that could be a veteran of any sort. Secondly, I cant seem to find any info, other than a wiki background of the H-Minus Unit.
One side says going around the coin"mere eglise-vietnam-sicily-normandy-rhineland-ardennes" has a panther or something with wings, in a banner underneath that says H-MINUS and under the banner says 505.
The other side shows a large empty script with crossed old rifles and the bottom is line "airborne all the way"
The edge(ring) of the coin has a stamped number "odkp-601-833-6891" spin the coin on the edge some and reads "3895"
I'd really like to locate the person, because after reading the background, this would seem like a very sentimentally valuable piece.
Any chance on me locating this person? Or something? Ideas?
505 is the Panther unit at Ft. Bragg, NC. H-minus is their logo or slogan. I'll get you some info here quickly bro. The 3895 is the Serial number as most of our Unit coins are numbered.
The 505th Infantry Regiment, formerly the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment (505th PIR) is one of four infantry regiments of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army.[1]
Activated in 1942, the regiment participated in the campaigns of Sicily, Salerno, Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. During the 1960s, the 505th one of the units who played a role in Operation Power Pack in the Dominican Republic and later assisted local authorities during the civil disturbances which occurred within the United States. The regiment was sent to the Republic of Vietnam in 1968 during the Vietnam War. After the Vietnam War the 505th participated in various military operations. Among them were Operation Just Cause, Operation Desert Shield, Operation Restore Hope and Operation Enduring Freedom. The regiment's most recent engagement has been in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Honestly there's really no way to locate someone just by the coin itself. Other than posting a note on your door stating you've found an 82nd coin...I just can't see any other way to track him down.
